On Thursday, September 12th, UBC’s Emerging Media Lab hosted their 2024 Summer Showcase, providing the UBC Community with an opportunity to learn more about our Summer projects.
After opening with introductory remarks from UBC CIO Jennifer Burns, we heard from EML’s project teams as they discussed the innovative projects they completed during the summer, describing their iterative development and design process and answering audience questions surrounding how they addressed the problem brought to them by their PI. To end the night, we hosted a panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Patrick Pennefather. During the panel, PIs discussed the role of emerging technologies within higher education, and how EML has allowed them to explore emerging technology within their respective disciplines.
Attendees then got the opportunity to try out the projects and interact with the project teams, emphasizing the various problems emerging technologies can solve within higher education.
If you missed the event, you can watch the whole thing online here, and keep an eye out for our Spring Showcase in April.
