Summer Showcase 2025

On Thursday, September 11th, UBC’s Emerging Media Lab is hosting their 2025 Summer Showcase. This event is an opportunity for the UBC Community to learn about and experience EML’s summer projects. 

Faculty and students will share presentations on their projects and the impact they have in our community. Attendees will get the opportunity to participate in interactive demos with the projects and the teams. 

If you are interested in emerging media and technologies’ role in education, we encourage you to attend!

Displayed Projects: 

Immersive Education in Mining: An AR/VR tool that uses interactive 3D visualization to simulate a site visit for mining students. 

LoveLoop: Immersive Fertility Awareness Training Tool: An immersive tool that uses 3D modelling and animation to teach users about fertility and the STM method of birth control. 

Procedural Poetry Funhouse: A project that aims to use AI and VR to reimagine poetry as a physical space, using the philosophy of play-based learning to further student understanding of poetry and the process behind it. 

AR-A-SOP: An Augmented Reality tool that aims to improve safety procedures for students working with Wood Processing tools. 

Nurse Practitioner VR Tool: A tool for student Nurse Practitioners to practice communication and clinical decision-making skills.
