EML is Recruiting

Calling for students! EML is recruiting!

We’re looking for enthusiastic students who are interested in developing educational tools with emerging media, including but not limited to VR/AR/MR. This is open for students from any background – you don’t have to be in computer science or engineering to participate! We’ll be having a casual Q&A with current students and sign up session during the Immersive Learning Orientation, please RSVP with the form on the right if you’re interested.

Date: April 18th 2018
Location: Emerging Media Lab | Neville Scarfe room 1

What is involved for participating in the team?

Usually, there will be faculty member(s) who will be acting as subject matter expert(s), and they will be bring “problems” that they face in their course hope to solve using emerging media. You’ll be part of each “project team” to solve such problem. You can be writing stories, creating 3d models, enhancing user interface/ user experience, developing in Unity, and much more.

How much time commitment do I need to put in?

It depends on the scope of the project – it will be up to you about how much you want to make out of it. It could be as small as couple hours a week. Every effort counts.

What if I can’t make it to this session?

If you’re interested in joining the team in Summer, but not able to make it to this session due to your exam schedule, etc. please email emergingmedia.lab@ubc.ca and we’ll arrange something for you.

What if I’m not around in Summer?

Don’t worry, we’ll be recruiting in the new academic term as well. But please fill out this survey so that you’re in our list. We’ll be contacting you about the new year recruitment around late August/ early September.
