The Beauty of Tech-Art: Interactive Art at EML

On November 21st, EML and the BMS program co-hosted a joint lecture and workshop session featuring TeamLab, DigitalFun, and the TEA Community. Attendees first got to listen to a lecture from Takeshi Yamada. As Head of Recruitment at TeamLab, Takeshi discussed interactive art and how to use technology to increase immersion. He then showed past installations from TeamLab, emphasizing their latest project, an outdoor installation that uses interactive animation, allowing users and enjoyers to physically interact with and change the digitized art.

After a quick break, participants heard from Jimmz Zhang, co-founder and Design Director at DigitalFun, as he guided them through a TouchDesigner AI and ComfyUI workshop. Guided by an industry expert, they learned how to use image recognition to change their appearance, digitally turning themselves into cats, celebrities, and so much more.

EML has frequently discussed our lab process and lab timeline, from ideation to prototype to execution. This event combined all aspects of our timeline, evolving learning by educating others about emerging technologies. Thank you to TeamLab, DigitalFun, the TEA Community, and all our participants for joining us. To learn more about upcoming events, visit our Events Page or subscribe to our newsletter!
